Forecasting is a work of social practice comprising of several events and community spaces that bring people together to reconsider how we approach creativity and artistic practice. Each arm of Forecasting is in conversation with Ernst Bloch’s concept of educated hope. Forecasting contends that “hope is not wishful but willful. Hope is neither a passive expectation nor a fantasy nor a paralyzing idealogical discourse, but the vital impulse behind an action, behind the active process of discovering the world” (Dinerstein 2022). By engaging with art making and process, the events and actions of Forecasting practice hope so that we might take it onwards and live.
